Our commitments to your privacy on our online survey panel

This Privacy Policy offers you a thorough explanation regarding your personal data provided to us or any data we may collect from you when you register to our online consumer panel. Please read this privacy policy before using the site or submitting any personal information.

We respect the privacy of our visitors and are committed to preserving your online safety by ensuring that privacy is protected every time you visit or communicate with our site. All personally identifiable information is kept secure and stored in our files.

The information we collect

When subscribing to our panel, some personal data is collected and processed. For the first step of your registration, we ask for your:

  • first name,
  • last name,
  • date of birth,
  • email,
  • sex.

We will also ask you some general questions about your household, finances and level of education.

After you have finished registering, we ask you to fill in more specific details about your lifestyle in the Thematic Profile section. Themes include Automotive, Banking, Health and Hobbies. Questions asked are such things as, whether or not you own a car and how often you travel outside the country. We use this information to construct your profile and determine which surveys you qualify for.

Sensitive information:
All of the personal information and survey answers given to Opinioncommunity by it's Members will be treated completely anonymously, they are encrypted on our databases and are not accessible to our personnel.

Note:
If you contact our Consumer Panel, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We also collect information when you provide feedback, write to our message boards or Website and in completing any of our paid online surveys.

Cookie Usage

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes (log file data and password). We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our Website, for example when you are prompted to log-in. Cookies are used to avoid you having to enter your login information many times in one day.

During online surveys, we may also collect information through the use of cookies. These are used as sparingly as possible and only for quality control, validation and most of all, to avoid sending you reminders for any survey you have already participated in.

The final type of cookie we collect is the DoubleClick cookie. Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to their own site as well other sites on the Internet. While Opinioncommunity might not advertise on their own site, the information from this cookie is used to get a better insight into the type of internet users visiting our site. This cookie collects information about your prior visits to our site as well as other sites across the Internet. This cookie is shared with Google and its partners for advertising purposes. However, only Opinioncommunity has access to the information in this cookie, which is purely statistical in nature and is in no way personally identifiable to you. Neither Opinioncommunity, Google nor any other site will link this information to any account you might have with them. It is possible for you to reject cookies or to prevent their use by changing the browser settings on your computer. How you do this will depend on the browser you are using.   • A session cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your web browser's help file. These cookies do not collect personally identifiable or confidential information.
  • Opinioncommunity automatically receives and records information from your computer software and hardware, including your IP address, browser type or operating system. We do this only to avoid you filling out the same survey several times.
  • We may provide links to a variety of other sites and we may display advertisements from third parties on our Website. Opinioncommunity does not control the dissemination of third party cookies. You should check the third party websites for more information about these. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of these websites and third party advertisers.
Our use of your information

The following list explains how we might use your data. It will be used to:

  • Send you invitations to participate in paid online surveys, which we use for statistical research purposes, by email, cell phone or in your member area.
  • To send you email notifications and updates about your rewards or payments.
  • To keep you informed and communicate with you about our new consumer panel activities, improvements or changes we decide to make.
  • Maintain an accurate member database for the purpose of sending you surveys related to your profile.
  • Analyze survey responses and generate anonymous and statistical results. Your individual responses may be forwarded to our customers, but only for research purposes and specific surveys (i.e., home product testing).
  • Provide market research firms, potential partners or advertisers with a snapshot of our consumer panel's profile attributes (based on information submitted by our members in the registration form).
  • All information shared with third parties is purely statistical.
How we protect your information

Your personal information is protected by password. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Furthermore, you should always remember to disconnect from your Member's Area and close the window after your session, particularly if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or internet cafe.

Although we use advanced security measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and alteration, we cannot make absolute guarantees over the security of the information you provide on the internet and as such we cannot be held responsible for it. Once we receive your transmission, we do our best to ensure its security on our systems.

How you update, correct or delete your information

You may access your Member's Area at any time by using your email/username and password. If you have forgotten your password, please click here .

You can delete your Member Account at any time by visiting the "Services" section in your Account Settings.

Opinioncommunity reserves the right to terminate any Member's Account and block access if one of the obligations under our Terms and Conditions has been breached. This can be done without notifying the Member in question.

Note:
  • Opinioncommunity may disclose information if we believe that disclosure will be useful to identify, communicate or sue members who have breached our Terms and Conditions and/or caused harm or damage to our US Consumer panel.
  • Even if your account is deleted, Opinioncommunity keeps on record some data like your email correspondence with our US Consumer Panel support team, message boards entries on our Website or your anonymous responses from completed surveys.
THE EU GDPR

Users Located in Europe

If you are located in Europe, please be advised of the following required by the GDPA:

Opinioncommunity may provide the Service to Users located in Europe.

16.1.In its interaction with European Users of the Service, Opinioncommunity is a Data Controller such that we are the organization which decides the purposes for which and the ways in which any personal data that we have collected is used.

16.2.You agree that we are entitled to obtain, use and process the information you provide to us to enable us to discharge the Services.

16.3.Our lawful reason for processing your personal information will be "legitimate interests". Under "legitimate interests" we can process your personal information if we have a genuine and legitimate reason and we are not harming any of your rights and interests.

16.4.We will process your persona data in a lawful, fair and transparent manner on only for the legitimate purpose of being able to provide the Service.

16.5.We will only request, process and maintain personal information to the extent necessary to be able to provide the Service.

16.6.We will keep in such form that, and only for the duration that, permits identification of data subjects for no longer than necessary.

16.7.We will process personal information in such a manner that ensures appropriate security of the information, including protection against unauthorized processing and accidental loss.

16.8.We will have a DPO(data protection officer) in our company.A data protection officer (DPO) is a position within a corporation that acts as an independent advocate for the proper care and use of customer’s information. The role of a data protection officer was formally laid out by the European Union as part of its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under the regulation, all businesses that market goods or services to customers within the European Union and collect data as a result must appoint a data protection officer. The data protection officer keeps up on laws and practices around data protection, conducts privacy assessments internally, and ensures that all other matters of compliance pertaining to data are up-to-date.The appointment of a data protection officer (DPO) is one of the key requirements for companies conducting business in the EU, and the GDPR is obviously an important piece of legislation. Privacy Rights and Disclosures for Californian Respondents

Opinioncommunity abides by the terms of CCPA, along with other consumer data privacy legislation in US states. This privacy policy serves as the notice of collection, and compliance with CCPA is further supported through Opinioncommunity's Information Security Policy, Privacy Impact Assessment, Breach Management Plan and Data Asset Inventory Summary. Consumers protected by CCPA retain the right to know about the personal information Opinioncommunity collects, how it is used and how it is shared, the right to have Opinioncommunity delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information and the right to non-discrimination for exercising their CCPA rights.

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. Opting out of email marketing: You can unsubscribe from our marketing email list at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send or by contacting us using the details provided below. You will then be removed from the marketing email list however, we may still communicate with you, for example, to send you service-related emails that are necessary for the administration and use of your account, to respond to service requests, or for other non-marketing purposes. Children’s Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”).

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Children has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
